Job Summary

The Wardrobe Assistant supports the Wardrobe Supervisor in the daily operations of Old Tucson Entertainment’s wardrobe department. This role is responsible for preparing, organizing, and maintaining costumes for events, shows, venues, and film productions, as well as assisting with props when needed. Due to the dynamic nature of live entertainment, the Wardrobe Assistant may also be called upon to provide support with other event-related tasks as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform laundry duties, including steaming and ironing costumes.
  • Assist with sewing, repairing, and assembling fabric pieces and costumes.
  • Organize, inventory, and prepare costumes during load‑in and throughout events.
  • Conduct fittings for performers and complete alterations as needed.
  • Follow and uphold company policies regarding safety and workplace practices.
  • Collaborate with the event team to foster a positive, enjoyable, and supportive work environment.
  • Perform other related duties assigned to support wardrobe and event operations.
Qualifications / Education, Skills & Work Experience Requirements
  • Previous experience as a wardrobe assistant, seamstress, or tailor.
  • Proficiency in sewing (hand stitching and machine) and general costume/clothing repair.
  • Strong DIY, craft, and repair abilities.
  • Knowledge of costume history, particularly the Old West era, preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative, as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment
  • This position operates in a fast-paced live entertainment setting, including indoor costume shops, dressing rooms, and outdoor event venues.
  • Requires standing and moving for extended periods during rehearsals, performances, and costume preparation.
  • Work involves bending, stooping, reaching, and handling costumes and props.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly (e.g., bins of costumes, equipment).
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills are needed for sewing, stitching, and detailed costume work.
  • Good vision is required for alterations, repairs, and fittings.
  • May be exposed to varied weather conditions during outdoor events.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday hours are often required to support performances and special events.
  • The environment is highly collaborative, requiring strong teamwork with performers, production staff, and other departments.
