Position Overview
The Senior VP of Health Sciences Office (SVPHS) is seeking candidates for Accountant I, an integral member of the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center (UAHS) Finance team. This position will actively manage an assigned portfolio of accounts and support, assess, and respond to UAHS units' financial needs. The selected candidate is expected to perform professional accounting activities in a complex, evolving, and fast-paced environment, in accordance with the U of A's policies and procedures.
Professional demeanor, customer service, and teamwork are required for this position while maintaining sensitivity with confidential information. The incumbent must be able to effectively assess and respond to customer needs and demonstrate skill in providing administrative team support.
- Reconcile and manage an assigned portfolio of state, designated, gift and Foundation accounts ensuring compliance with UA policies, procedures and regulations.
- Prepare and process funding distributions, monthly financial reports, financial transactions, including PCard reconciliation, purchase requisitions, disbursement vouchers, interdepartmental billing forms, expense reimbursements, salary expense transfers, and general error corrections as necessary to move expenses to appropriate accounts or object codes.
- Utilize UAccess systems to monitor account budgets, balances, account reconciliations. Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and/or projections as necessary.
- Support the development and implementation of reports and tools to monitor accounts for budgeting, forecasting, and other functionality. Understand and implement university policy when reviewing and approving financial transactions.
- Analyze, develop and document accounting and business procedures, practices and controls related to the overall office functions and tasks. Maintain accounting document files.

Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Degree in Accounting or related field.
- At least three years of experience in post-award accounting for federal research.
- Extensive experience with UA policies and procedures, and systems: UAccess Analytics, Financials, Employee, Research.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
