This role is part of the SM‑3 Finance Team within the Naval Power Finance organization. The Finance Manager will guide the Financial Planning and Analysis of the SM‑3 program, leading a small team of analysts and working closely with the SM‑3 Business Managers, Shipboard FP&A, and NP FP&A.
WhatYou Will Do
Lead the Long‑Range Plan process (including the Annual Operating Plan). Key aspects include calendar development, bottom‑up inputs, reviews with the SSBUs, cross‑functional alignment with the SM‑3 Leadership Team, market and growth analysis, and an emphasis on risk and opportunity identification.
Handle ad‑hoc requests, anticipate and resolve data anomalies, perform variance analysis, troubleshoot reporting, and develop templates for summation of data and inputs. Provide guidance and mentorship to team members and support broader organizational development efforts.
Interact regularly with the SSBU CFOs, FP&A leads, and Functional Leadership team. Analysis provided will drive decisions that improve the SM‑3 organization’s financial performance.
Prepare and present the SM‑3 pre‑close and close forecast, including RPLAN updates and balance‑sheet coordination (unbilled, CIP, inventory). Support CORE initiatives and special projects focused on process improvement.
Qualifications- Minimum Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 5 years of experience.
- Proficiency with Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with RPLAN and/or SAP Business Systems / BW Toolset or similar business systems.
- Experience with AO and FP&A reporting, AR/CFRs.
- Strong critical‑thinking and forecasting skills; excellent written and verbal communication.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Highly collaborative and proactive guidance style.
- Independent, self‑starter who meets critical deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Experience organizing, preparing, and presenting briefings to leadership, customers, and peers.
