Overview
Our client is seeking a Mining Controller to lead the financial performance and integrity of complex mining operations. This role sits at the center of operational and financial decision-making, providing critical insight that drives efficiency, accountability, and long-term value. The Mining Controller partners closely with site leadership to shape strategy, optimize costs, and ensure strong financial governance across all activities. Key Responsibilities- Financial Management and Reporting:
Oversee all financial reporting activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with business objectives. - Decision Support:
Deliver clear, actionable insights to support leadership decision-making. - Financial Visibility:
Maintain strong financial visibility across site operations.
- Lead annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting process.
- Partner with operational leaders to align financial plans with production goals.
- Identify risks and opportunities to improve financial outcomes.
- Monitor and analyze cost performance across mining activities.
- Develop strategies to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Provide detailed variance analysis and recommendations.
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations, policies, and internal controls.
- Strengthen processes to safeguard company assets and maintain audit readiness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational initiatives.
- Translate financial data into meaningful insights that enhance performance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across site activities.
- Provide leadership, mentor, and develop the finance team members.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent preferred.
- 7–15+ years of progressive finance experience, ideally within mining, natural resources, or heavy industry.
- Strong expertise in cost accounting and operational finance.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
- Background supporting site-based or operational environments is highly valued.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Deep understanding of cost structures within industrial operations.
- Effective communication and ability to influence stakeholders.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform in fast-paced, operational environments.
- Leadership mindset with a focus on team development and collaboration.
