Position Summary

The Relationship Banker II combines expertise in customer service, sales, and operational management at an elevated skill level within the banking team. The Relationship Banker II is an advanced role closely aligning teller responsibilities with personal banking, emphasizing comprehensive financial services for customers. This role handles more complex transactions and provides guidance to less experienced staff while building customer relationships and promoting the bank's services.

Customer Service & Relationship Management

• Greet and engage customers in a friendly and professional manner, delivering exceptional service to build lasting relationships.
• Serve as a trusted point of contact for customers, ensuring a high level of service.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through personalized service and proactive outreach for routine and complex banking needs.
• Provide guidance to customers on financial products and services that meet their needs.

Sales & Cross-Selling

• Actively identify and promote bank products and services.
• Ask clients targeted questions to understand financial needs and goals.
• Meet and exceed monthly sales and referral goals by assessing needs and recommending suitable banking solutions.
• Proactively refer customers to other lines of business such as mortgage, wealth, treasury, and commercial services.

Account Management and Support

• Open and manage personal and business accounts with accurate setup and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with account maintenance tasks, including updating information, transfers, and check orders.
• Support customers with online and mobile banking, ensuring comfort and knowledge of digital tools.

Loan & Credit Processing

• Process and assist with customer loan applications, including personal loans and home equity lines of credit.
• Conduct initial loan screenings, gather documentation, and coordinate with loan officers or other departments to ensure a smooth process.
• Educate customers on loan products, eligibility requirements, and loan terms.

Transactions & Cash Handling

• Process transactions with a high degree of accuracy.
• Balance cash drawer and ensure transactions are accurately recorded and processed.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in financial transactions and customer interactions.
• Monitor and detect suspicious or fraudulent activity, escalating issues as appropriate.
• Adhere to privacy regulations and handle customer data securely and confidentially.

Team Support and Mentorship

• Guide newer staff on bank products, customer service skills, and operational procedures.
• Foster a collaborative and positive work environment by sharing knowledge and assisting with day-to-day operations.

Branch Operations & Administrative Support

• Assist with daily branch tasks, including balancing cash, managing branch supplies, and supporting opening/closing.
• Support branch leadership in maintaining branch security and operational efficiency.

Knowledge of:

• Strong sales and customer service skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Basic math and accounting functions
• The basic tenets of lending and assessing a customer’s financial needs

Ability to:

• Accurately count money
• Perform duties and make decisions under frequent time pressures
• Stand for extended periods of time
• Lift 50 pounds
• Explain products and services to current and potential customers
• Participate in cross-selling in collaboration with Banking Center leadership and other lines of business

Education and Training:

• High School diploma required
• 2 years of banking experience with lending responsibilities required
• 1 year of training or combination of mentorship, military, or management experience required
• NMLS registration as applicable (per SAFE Act) if lending; maintain active registration upon hire
• Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office

Salary is based on duties, qualifications, experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonuses or incentives based on company and individual performance.

(Base Pay Range: $25.00-$28.00/hour)
