DescriptionUS Heart and Vascular is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our Integrated Care Clinic in Tucson, AZ. This critical role is an integral part of our multidisciplinary team focused on optimizing care for patients diagnosed with heart failure.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction and guidance of the Advanced Practice Provider:
- Facilitates efficient and effective patient flow including preparing the patient for the visit/admission, and providing specific services and education as directed by advanced practice provider
- Rooms patients and collects pertinent clinical information inclusive appropriate screenings, measuring vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information in patient chart
- Performs necessary administrative duties including maintenance and monitoring of EHR inboxes
- Operates electrocardiograph (EKG) and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test as directed
- Coordinates referrals and prior authorizations for patient care
- Accurately documents patient information in EHR from various sources including phone calls, patient messaging, remote patient monitoring technologies
- Reviews appointment schedules in advance and prepares charts for upcoming appointments inclusive of reviewing medical records, lab and diagnostic results, chronic conditions, and outstanding quality gaps to ensure chart is prepared for provider visit
- Communicates effectively with front office staff regarding same day appointments, changes to schedule and related issues.
- Performs other indirect patient services and clerical duties to facilitate the overall management of patient.
- Outreaches to patients to proactively schedule protocolized appointments with advanced practice provider and other members of multidisciplinary team
Requirements:
- Requires excellent communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to function independently within the limits of the position
- Ability to function in a team environment
Able to demonstrate interpersonal skills to be approachable and understandable to patients, families, and care team members - Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program required
- Medical Assistant Certification
- Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- One year of relevant work experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting preferred but not required
