Location and ScheduleFull-time position. Training will take place at 7545 S Houghton Rd, with primary location at 1845 W. Orange Grove Rd.
Role SummaryPharmacy Technician responsibilities may include compounding sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical preparations under the supervision of the compounding pharmacist; performing data entry and prescription processing; and assisting laboratory technicians in prescription compounding and fulfillment activities. This position reports to the department team lead.
Job Activities and Responsibilities- Follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures and state laws and regulations.
- Work under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Serve as the first point of contact for customers, greets and assists in a friendly professional manner.
- Check prescriptions for completeness, entering necessary information into the computer to generate a prescription label and invoices when required.
- Fill and label prescriptions, prepackaging bulk medications and various ancillary kits.
- Communicate with prescribers to receive refill authorizations, receive patient refills by telephone, directing calls or relaying messages.
- Assist team lead with organization and appearance of the pharmacy front‑end, ordering and pricing front‑end merchandise.
- Compound sterile and non‑sterile products such as capsules, oral liquids, topical medications, nasal preparations, suppositories, troches, tablet triturates, lollipops, and sterile compounded products.
- Investigate incidences and variances, documenting and resolving them as needed.
- Other duties as determined by the department team lead.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Licensed as a Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of employment.
- Ability to navigate basic computer operating systems.
- At least 3 years of pharmacy experience.
- Able to work full time immediately upon hire.
- Proficient in using a computer, printer, and fax machine.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Effective communication skills via telephone and email.
- Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds as needed.
- 20/20 vision (with or without corrective aids) required for visual inspection of drug products.
