POSITION SUMMARYThis position may be located within a Hospital Facility, Patient Service Center (PSC), In‑Office Phlebotomy (IOP) or Mobile Diagnostic Services (MDS). It may be responsible for coverage at multiple locations. The role includes collection and receipt of biological specimens into the department, proper entry into the company's computer system, preparation of samples for analytical testing, and/or distribution of these specimens to the proper analytical area.
It also includes responsibility for pre and post aspects of analytical testing and performs specified analytical testing as assigned. All functions are performed according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
- Minimum age 18.
- High School diploma or equivalent, as required by state regulations.
- Basic knowledge of department resource materials.
- Completion of a phlebotomy program or phlebotomy experience.
- May require DHS fingerprinting certification or the ability to obtain it.
- Valid state driver’s license in the state of employment and eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
- Float positions require travel, flexible hours, and availability to cover multiple locations including mobile and in‑office phlebotomy sites with minimal notice.
- Progression through career ladder II‑IV subject to completion of career ladder requirements.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
- Assist in the collection, receipt, and processing of biological specimens.
- Maintain accurate documentation and data entry in the company’s computer system.
- Perform quality checks and assure compliance with HIPAA and department protocols.
- Engage with patients, healthcare professionals, and vendors to facilitate specimen collection and laboratory operations.
- Participate in workflow monitoring, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage supplies, minimize waste, and support departmental cost‑saving efforts.
Position may be located within a Hospital Facility, Patient Service Center (PSC), In‑Office Phlebotomy (IOP), or Mobile Diagnostic Services (MDS) with potential coverage across multiple sites during night shifts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSAbility to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently. Lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs. Manual dexterity, color discrimination, and rapid assimilation of instructions. Use of computer, printers, copiers, telephone, fax, and department equipment.
