Position: INFECTION PREVENTIONIST

INFECTION PREVENTIONIST CERTIFIED (RN PREFERRED)

Description:

JOB SUMMARY: Plans, implements, and evaluates infection prevention and control measures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitors and investigates known or suspected sources of infections to determine the source and ensure control.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and implements regulations, standards, and guidelines from applicable governmental agencies and professional organizations.
  • Collaborates in developing and delivering educational programs and tools related to infection prevention, control, and epidemiology.
  • Reports infection surveillance, prevention, and control information to local, state, and federal public health authorities in accordance with laws and regulations.
  • Serves as the infection prevention consultant for multiple departments.
    • Qualifications:

    Education: Required:
    Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or other health-related field. Preferred:
    Bachelor's degree in Nursing (RN) or Medical Microbiology.

    Licensure/Certification/Registration:
    Preferred:
    Valid current Arizona Nursing License or a compact state license, with the ability to obtain Arizona licensure within 30 days if applicable.
    Certification

    Required:

    Certified in Infection Control (CIC).

    Work Experience:

    Required:

    At least three (3) years in Infection Control.
    Preferred:
    Five (5) years of related experience in nursing, microbiology, utilization review, or education.
