Job Details

The Pharmacist is responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient distribution of pharmaceutical agents to patients of all ages, employees and designated areas of the hospital. Pharmacist practice shall be carried out in accordance with all state/federal and DEA laws, TJC Standards, and hospital/departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with physicians on drugs and dosing.
  • Educate nursing staff, patients and physicians regarding medications.
  • Lead Medication Safety initiatives.
  • Manage patient profiles and avoid/report adverse drug reactions.
  • Mix IV admixtures and nutritional supplements.
  • Maintain narcotic accountability.
  • Support inpatient acute hospital operations.
Job Requirements

Required Experience: 2 years recent hospital pharmacist staffing.

Preferred: Board Certified and/or accredited pharmacy residency.

Must-haves: Sterile compounding experience, ability to work independently and meet multiple project deadlines.

Schedule Information
  • Shift: 7 Nights On / 7 Nights Off, 8:00p - 7:00a.
  • Work days:
    Wednesday through Tuesday.
  • No On Call, no 48‑hour guarantee, no blocked scheduling.
  • Houghton Pharmacy will be open on CHS Recognized holidays.
Additional Details

Operational and people management skills that result in patient satisfaction, ongoing quality improvement and employee engagement of a diverse population. Proven success at working collaboratively with all stakeholders to meet key goals.

Work environment: clean, smoke‑free, well‑lit healthcare setting. Considerable video display exposure and use of keyboard.

Occasionally subjected to irregular hours, frequent interruptions, many calls, inquiries and pressure. In clinical settings, exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness), varying and unpredictable situations. May perform emergency care; requires judgment and action which affect health, well‑being and positive outcomes for patients and employees.
