Job DetailsThe Pharmacist is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient distribution of pharmaceutical agents to patients of all ages, employees, and designated areas of the hospital. Practice shall be carried out in accordance with all state/federal and DEA laws, TJC Standards, and hospital/departmental policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with physicians on drugs and dosing.
- Provide education to nursing staff, patients, and physicians regarding medications.
- Participate in medication safety initiatives, patient profiling, and avoidance and reporting of adverse drug reactions.
- Mix IV admixtures, nutritional supplements, and maintain narcotic accountability.
- Maintain sterile compounding and medication distribution processes.
- ACLS & BLS certifications.
- Arizona Pharmacist License.
- Inpatient acute hospital experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years recent hospital pharmacist staffing experience to work independently.
- Board Certified and/or accredited pharmacy residency preferred.
- Experience in sterile compounding.
Shift: 7 Nights On / 7 Nights Off, 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.; work Wednesday through Tuesday. No on‑call, no 48‑hour guarantee, and no blocked scheduling. Houghton Pharmacy is open on CHS recognized holidays.
Unit Specific InformationNumber of Beds: 44 Beds + Emergency Department.
Additional Details- Must be able to work independently and meet multiple project deadlines.
- Clean, smoke‑free, well lit workplace with significant video display exposure and keyboard use.
- Occasional irregular hours and frequent interruptions.
- Exposure to unpleasant elements such as accidents, injuries, and illness.
- May perform emergency care requiring judgment and action that affect health, well‑being, and outcomes.
- Operational and people‑management skills that result in patient satisfaction, ongoing quality improvement, and employee engagement.
- Proven success in collaborating with all stakeholders to meet key goals.
