LocationBanner University Medical Center - South Tucson
ScheduleFull Time – Night Shift (7:00 PM to 3:30 AM). Weekends & holidays are required. Flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18% night shift differential when applicable.
Training Requirements- 1st Week – Monday‑Friday: 8 AM – 4:30 PM
- 2nd Week – Monday‑Friday: 7 AM – 3:30 PM (includes attending NEO on a Monday morning)
- Both BUMCT & BUMCS train together. Location TBD by EVS Educator.
This position conducts heavy cleaning and floor care work—such as carpet cleaning, stripping/refinishing hard floor surfaces, and special projects. Operates and maintains power cleaning equipment and responds to assigned service requests.

- Vacuuming and polishing per department policy and procedures
- Sterilization of procedural rooms; terminal cleaning of operating rooms
- Respond promptly to all cleaning service requests via computerized and paper‑based tracking systems. Maintain logs of completed tasks.
- Perform specialty cleaning and infection control functions in clinical areas, surgical suites, cath lab, specialty rooms, and sterile areas. Adhere to gowning and cleaning procedures for isolation rooms and infection control standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational function of department equipment; report needed repairs.
- Assess environmental conditions; anticipate and resolve clutter and safety issues.
- Provide leadership for less experienced associates and assist with on‑the‑job training.
- Perform scheduled floor care procedures—including dust mop, mopping, stripping, refinishing, burnishing, and carpet extraction—and calculate required cleaning chemicals.
- Work under supervision within assigned facility and communicate with internal and external customers.
• One to two years of diversified environmental service work experience in a health care or institutional setting.
• Working knowledge of typical industrial cleaning equipment and cleaning techniques suitable for healthcare.
• Basic math skills.
• Effective communication skills—oral and written—to provide instructions and information.
• Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to accomplish assigned work despite frequent interruptions and changing priorities, and to multitask on several projects.
• Role model for customer service skills, safe work practices, and infection control, including hand hygiene.
Employees at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting serving children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must also be signed upon hire. Employees at Olive Branch Senior Center also must possess and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Preferred QualificationsBasic computer skills and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques.
Education & Experience (Preferred)Relevant education and experience are preferred.
