General
Job Description:
The Director of School Health Services for Leman Academy of Excellence is the leader in the school community to oversee school health policies and programs. The Director of School Health Services serves as a liaison between school personnel, family, community and healthcare providers to advocate for health care and a healthy school environment. The Director of School Health Services collaborates with other school and health care staff to maintain a safe and healthy environment and promote an optimal level of wellness to enhance the educational process of scholars.
It is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well-being, academic success, and lifelong achievement of scholars through removal of health-related barriers. The Director of School Health Services provides scholar care, health care, first aid, and assistance to scholars at assigned school, as well as performs screenings for vision, hearing, and/or other conditions. Completes, updates, and maintains student records (accident reports, health records) using District software system, and completes and submits reports.
This includes the completion of health care plans, IEPs, and Section 504 Plans, and includes supervising health paraprofessionals and other health staff, as well as the School Counselors/Social Workers, in assigned locations.

Reports to:
The Director of School Health Services shall be directly responsible to the Executive Director and CEO of LAE.
Job Goal:
The Director of School Health Services for Leman Academy serves in a pivotal role to provide expertise and oversight for the provision of school health services and promotion of health education. Using clinical knowledge and judgment, the Director of School Health Services provides health care and information to scholars and employees, as well as performs health screenings and coordinates referrals if necessary.

Qualifications/
Minimum Requirements:
* Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited College or University.
* Valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
* Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
* Valid AZ Driver's License (In state travel required)
* Valid Arizona Registered Nursing License.
* Minimum of two (2) years of successful nursing experience.
* Current Certificate of Completion for Hearing/Screening Training.
* School (or Community Health Nursing) experience preferred with a working knowledge of school organization and procedures.
* Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to positively impact the school community with an ability to build strong relationships.
* Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with scholars, parents, co-workers and the public at large.
* Strong commitment to providing leadership in promoting health and safety, including a healthy environment.
* Able to provide quality health care with an ability to intervene with actual and potential health problems.
* Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services.
* Considerable knowledge of child growth and development.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, word, etc.) and familiar with other related software programs.
* Ability to work independently prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to operate office equipment as required on assignment; i.e. fax machine, copier, computer, etc.
* Ability to set-up and use an efficient filing system.
