The Houseperson plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of guest rooms and public areas within accommodation and food service establishments. This position ensures that all guest environments meet high standards of hygiene and comfort, contributing directly to guest satisfaction and the establishment's reputation. The Houseperson supports housekeeping staff by handling tasks such as cleaning, restocking supplies, and managing laundry, enabling efficient room turnover and smooth daily operations.
This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance or cleanliness issues. Ultimately, the Houseperson helps create a welcoming and safe environment that enhances the overall guest experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of cleaning procedures and use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards.
- Good communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in housekeeping or janitorial roles within the hospitality industry.
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation regulations applicable to accommodation and food service environments.
- Ability to operate laundry equipment and knowledge of proper linen handling procedures.
- Basic problem-solving skills to identify and report maintenance or guest-related issues.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Clean and maintain guest rooms, corridors, lobbies, and public areas to ensure a high standard of hygiene and presentation.
- Assist housekeeping staff by delivering clean linens, towels, and supplies to guest rooms and removing used items for laundering.
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or guest concerns promptly to the appropriate department for resolution.
- Organize and maintain housekeeping carts and storage areas to ensure efficient workflow and availability of supplies.
- Support the setup and breakdown of banquet or dining areas as needed, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for service.

The Houseperson utilizes strong organizational skills daily to manage cleaning supplies and maintain orderly work spaces, ensuring efficient service delivery. Attention to detail is critical when inspecting rooms and public areas to uphold cleanliness and safety standards.
