Role and ResponsibilitiesPerforms senior-level professional human resources work in the Court’s Human Resources division. May be assigned to different areas depending on organizational needs, including:
- Talent acquisition/recruiting activities
- Administration of Human Resources Information Systems
- Administration of the Courts’ compensation/classification systems
- Benefits, wellness programs, and leaves administration
- Employee relations and investigations
- Other current organizational needs
This is a classified position that reports to the Director, Human Resources or Deputy Director, Human Resources, or Manager, Human Resources. The incumbent performs work under limited supervision and has no supervisory responsibilities. An on-site position; coverage within the courts may be needed. No relocation assistance will be provided.
Minimum QualificationsA Bachelor’s degree in personnel management, business or public administration, or a related field, and at least two years of higher-level professional human resources experience, which may include a combination of any of the above specialized experience OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education approved by Human Resources. Preference may be provided for those with experience from more than one area of human resources discipline.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience managing leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, and other leave policies.
- Strong background in employee relations, including conflict resolution, investigations, and policy interpretation.
- Proven success in full-cycle recruiting, from sourcing and screening to onboarding.
Once a candidate formally accepts a job offer with Superior Court, Juvenile Court, or Justice Court (Tucson and Ajo), all other active applications for different roles within these courts will be inactivated to ensure clarity in the hiring process and focus on onboarding.

Essential Duties & FunctionsThe actual duties may rotate, but the incumbent is expected to remain proficient in all aspects of the job and perform duties reflective of the division’s current needs.
General Duties/Responsibilities- Provide professional-level human resources services to all Superior Court divisions and other Courts as required.
- Develop and implement HR procedures and policies; communicate court-wide initiatives and obtain feedback from managers and staff.
- Research and develop training programs on various HR topics.
- Conduct special studies, analyze data, develop recommendations, and present to management.
- Recommend new or revised HR practices and procedures.
- Contribute to long- and short-term planning with respect to the area of assignment.
- Maintain confidentiality of all materials and information encountered in performance of duties.
- Stay current on federal, state, local statutes/regulations related to the assignment.
- Participate in professional trainings to stay current on laws and best practices in HR; may provide training to others.
- Collaborate with Court divisions to establish effective recruitment strategies.
- Support assigned divisions with their recruitment needs.
