Description

The Data Scientist I demonstrates an expanded breadth of knowledge and the ability to handle basic issues independently. They also demonstrate very good communication skills; planning and organization, teamwork, and decision making skills; a strong concern for customers; a strong focus on continual learning in the Analytics field; and has basic knowledge of Caterpillar Inc., and its products and services.

• Participate on cross-functional project teams to solve problems presented by a Caterpillar Business Unit or Service Organization, a Caterpillar Dealer, or a Caterpillar Customer.
• Move from learning and assisting others to learning to contribute independently; become familiar with the company’s processes, products, and organization.
• Work with directions from a project or team lead who may review methods and results.
• Deliver results, consider alternative actions, make timely decisions, develop communication skills, work with people, and push the technical bounds of experimentation while meeting customer commitments.
• Assist in creating and analyzing product support and quality reports and tools to reveal machine usage insights that help customers work safely and more productively and help the enterprise understand market trends.

The Data Scientist I role includes data collection and analysis; development, validation, application, and refinement of statistical models; and application of related digital technologies to process inputs and outputs from models. The position may involve multiple assignments across projects to apply theory and contribute to solutions in the assigned area.

The Machine Data Insights team within Machine Analytics seeks a Data Scientist to develop analyses supporting product development analytics, aftermarket analytics, demand forecasting analytics, and other strategic analytics areas. The role requires advanced statistical modeling and machine learning techniques and domain knowledge of industrial equipment.

Intermediate Level

This is a Contract position based out of Tucson, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $25.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment.
