Principal Systems Administrator

Role Overview

Principal System Administrator – Tucson, AZ (Onsite, Full Time)

• Provide IT systems administration for a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment supporting classified programs.
• Provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain systems hardware and software for Linux/Windows infrastructure.
• Manage servers (software and hardware), storage (logical and physical), cross‑platform authentication, access management, data backup, restoration, and workstation support.
• Apply troubleshooting techniques to resolve moderate to high scope and complex technical problems, including hardware and OS integration.
• Maintain data RAID, backup technologies, and ensure system security with documentation and training on advanced IT processes.
• Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements; provide documentation and training to end users.
• Support system operations 24/7, including occasional work beyond standard hours.
• Travel up to 5% as required.

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Active, transferable U.S. government‑issued secret clearance prior to start.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Experience with Linux or Windows administration.
• Experience in at least one of the following:
  Active Directory, VMware, MySQL, networking administration.
• Knowledge of Windows Server internals or Linux fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, AD, server replication).
• Understanding of data RAID and backup technologies.
• Ability to obtain DoDD 8140/8570 certification (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) within 6 months.

• Experience with VMware vCenter, vSphere, ESX.
• Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS, DoD/RMF.
• In‑depth Windows Server experience.
• Experience with NAS, SAN technologies and solutions.
• Project lifecycle management experience.
• Support for engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
• Microsoft WSUS, SMECP, Exchange experience.
• High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment.
• Strong scripting skills.

• Salary range: USD 86,800 – 165,200.
