Hiring Range: $76,876 - $92,268 Annually
Pay Range: $76,876 - $107,660 Annually (whole compensation range)
This in‑office position is located in Tucson, AZ and cannot be remote. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Essential Functions- Define backup and recovery strategies and ensure database availability.
- Monitor, optimize, and maintain database performance, integrity, and security.
- Provide technical database leadership when working with teams.
- Create and implement data element standards and publish data.
- Perform application administration (software installation, security, patching, upgrades).
- Assist with installation of DBMS packages and user training.
- Design, create, and maintain database objects.
- Configure and support cloud‑based and in‑house environments such as SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics, Agave, and Team Foundation Server.
- Analyze existing information systems, evaluate technologies, and provide recommendations.
- Write and maintain database documentation.
- Lead technical project teams on data modeling concepts for application designs.
- Coordinate with other IT groups for database development projects, software upgrades, and new product implementations.
- Support overall department and Pima County goals.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, university, or technical school AND five (5) years of database administration experience (or equivalent education/experience). Alternatively, two (2) years with Pima County in a Database Administrator I or closely related position. Qualifications must be documented in the application’s Education and Work Experience sections.
Preferred Qualifications- Five (5) years of recent experience with relational database platforms, such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and exposure to Oracle or other systems.
- Three (3) years of recent experience with SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and transformation.
- Experience with ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, SSAS) and data warehousing platforms.
- Three (3) years of recent experience installing and configuring DBMS, application software, and related tools.
- Knowledge of DBMS security administration with best practices.
- Three (3) years of recent experience in system administration of database servers for optimal performance.

: A valid Arizona Class D driver license may be required. Employment is contingent on ACJIS certification and relevant departmental database access certification.
