Position Summary
The Systems Analyst at the City of Tucson’s Information Technology Department is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining web applications. This role supports the adoption of new technologies, research web‑related trends, and stays current on best practices in web development, application maintenance, server systems, Dev Ops, business analysis, and project management. Work is performed under the supervision of the Information Technology Manager and does not involve supervision of staff.
Responsibilities- Develops and supports a variety of applications and systems, ensuring they align with organizational goals.
- Works with programming languages, frameworks, and technologies such as Python and Django, providing ongoing maintenance and updates.
- Collaborates with departments to migrate and integrate legacy systems with modern technologies.
- Investigates, documents, and implements new features, processes, and system improvements.
- Conducts research on industry best practices in system development and related engineering.
- Provides customer service, engaging with stakeholders to resolve technical challenges.
- Analyzes service requests and requirements to ensure solutions meet the organization’s needs.
- Supports IT infrastructure by maintaining configurations and deployment processes, ensuring efficient operation across environments.
- Collaborates with team members to write automation scripts, streamline deployment, and ensure version control.
- Designs and improves user interfaces and web‑based applications, ensuring accessibility and usability.
- Provides training and support to content editors and stakeholders in managing web content.
- Gathers and analyzes requirements, offering solutions aligning with technical and organizational goals.
- Recommends tools, platforms, and technologies based on analysis and industry trends.
- Works with project management teams to plan, execute, and track projects, providing guidance and reporting progress.
- Addresses unforeseen issues or system problems as they arise with timely solutions.
- Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Three (3) years of relevant experience. Any combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Experience in software development with Python/Django and SaaS platform management.
- Web development with Python, Django, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience with PHP, Drupal, and other web frameworks, including accessibility.
- User experience design experience.
Grade G109. Hourly range $32.15 – $48.23 USD.
