About the Role
A qualified IT Technician will install, maintain, and optimize computer systems (PC, macOS, iOS, Chromebooks) and networks to ensure the highest functionality and security. In this role, you will support users across the organization, helping them make safe and efficient use of our IT infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will possess a foundational knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems, and a keen interest in utilizing modern technologies—including artificial intelligence tools—to streamline troubleshooting, automate routine tasks, and enhance overall productivity.
ResponsibilitiesTechnical Support & Infrastructure
- Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers, etc.).
- Check, configure, and maintain computer hardware (HDDs, mice, keyboards) to ensure functionality.
- Install and configure appropriate software and applications according to organization specifications.
- Repair or replace damaged hardware components as needed.
- Travel to off‑campus sites to provide hands‑on technical assistance.
Systems, Security, & Asset Management
- Ensure the local security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
- Install, configure, and upgrade antivirus software and implement encryption technologies.
- Perform local security officer and system administrator duties to manage staff system access.
- Implement and maintain an IT asset management system through accurate data entry, tracking assets throughout their life cycle.
- Assist with the technical onboarding and off‑boarding of employees, provisioning all required hardware, operating systems, and software.
AI Integration & Innovation
- Leverage AI‑powered diagnostic tools and LLMs (Large Language Models) to accelerate troubleshooting, debug code, and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive IT tasks, data entry, and software deployment using basic scripting or AI automation features.
- Provide guidance and orientation to users on how to operate new software, including responsible use of organization‑approved AI productivity tools.
- Assist with cybersecurity monitoring by utilizing AI‑driven threat detection and response alerts to safeguard computing assets and server infrastructure.
- Diagnostic & Problem‑Solving:
Strong basic troubleshooting abilities with an aptitude for using technical documentation and AI tools to solve complex issues. - Communication:
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical users. - Organization:
Outstanding organizational and time‑management skills with sharp attention to detail. - Core Technical Knowledge:
Foundational understanding of diverse operating systems (Windows, macOS, ChromeOS), networks, and internet applications. - Security & Privacy:
Good foundational knowledge of internet security principles, data privacy, and cloud data protection. - AI Literacy:
Familiarity with AI productivity tools, prompt engineering for technical troubleshooting, or AI‑assisted helpdesk workflows.
