About the Role
System Administrator, High Performance Computing (HPC) – Principal Specialist (P3). Onsite position located in Tucson, Arizona. Requires an active U.S. Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship. The role supports heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux HPC environments.
Key Responsibilities- Work as a member of a fast‑paced technological team.
- Help develop and implement new technologies based on industry best practices.
- Use advanced troubleshooting techniques to resolve high‑scope, complex technical problems involving HPC hardware, software, and operating systems.
- Utilize software tools, automated scripts, batch schedulers, hardware, and system‑level troubleshooting to lead and support the engineering community.
- Perform operating‑system tuning to maximize performance on HPC systems.
- Standardize processes and procedures across Digital Technology functions.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity professionals to maintain security compliance requirements.
- Provide documentation and training on advanced Digital Technology HPC processes and procedures.
- Mentor junior team members.
- University degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Active U.S. government‑issued Secret security clearance required before the start date.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Experience in Windows Server and/or Linux Server environments, including directory services management and system hardening.
- Experience maintaining a medium‑sized Microsoft Windows Server environment.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Experience with HPC scheduling and monitoring tools.
- Must obtain Department of Defense Directive 8140/8570 certification (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) and an operating‑system certification within 6 months of hire.
- Experience with HPC scheduling and monitoring tools such as SLURM, Grid Engine, and Ganglia.
- Project leadership or management experience in a Digital Technology domain.
- Advanced scripting experience.
- Active DoD Secret or Top‑Secret clearance.
- Advanced hands‑on experience with Windows and Unix security hardening, system integrations, advanced troubleshooting, and authentication integration (LDAP).
- Experience in medium to high‑complexity Unix environments.
