Technical Writer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer with a strong background in IT security documentation and infrastructure processes. This individual will support the creation, refinement, and standardization of critical documentation across security, access management, and system configuration practices.

This is a hands‑on contributor role—the team is looking for someone who can step in immediately with minimal ramp‑up and prior exposure to enterprise IT environments.

• Develop and maintain security‑related documentation, policies, and procedures
• Document user access provisioning processes (system access, permissions, approvals, etc.)
• Create detailed documentation around system configuration and administration
• Write and refine background check policies and procedures
• Review and update existing documentation (mixture of net‑new and rewrite efforts)
• Ensure documentation aligns with security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST preferred)
• Partner with IT, Security, and Compliance teams to validate accuracy and completeness
• Support documentation readiness following external audit/review findings (Campus Guard engagement)

• 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in IT or 3+ in Security environments
• Hands‑on familiarity with:
  • Windows environments
  • Active Directory
• Proven experience documenting:
  • Security processes and controls
  • Access management workflows
  • System configuration procedures
  • Policy writing
  • Editing existing documents
• Ability to hit the ground running with minimal training or onboarding
• Prior experience supporting documentation after third‑party audits or compliance reviews
• Exposure to higher education or regulated environments
• Experience working alongside security consulting firms
• Confluence Experience
• Experience working with or aligning to NIST frameworks
