Job SummaryAs a Principal Network Engineer for the Classified Infrastructure Services team, you will provide subject‑matter expertise in networking, support operational teams, research new technologies, and drive the network roadmap and vision. This on‑site position is based in Tucson, AZ and may require up to 30% travel to local U.S. sites.
Responsibilities- Enhance inter‑team communication and document network details clearly.
- Maintain voice and data networks; plan, evaluate, coordinate, and perform installation and reconfiguration of hardware and software.
- Develop technical expertise in switches, routers, firewalls, authentication servers, encryptors, and related hardware and software.
- Maintain network management software platforms.
- Propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements are met, optimizing cost, redundancy, and uptime.
- Provide advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN components including routers, switches, and firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto).
- Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance, resolving service‑impacting issues proactively.
- Review vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Lead and participate in projects supporting voice, video, and network infrastructure improvements.
- Produce, update, and improve technical documentation for security and operational support.
- Configure network solutions that meet future needs, current usage, cost savings, and availability.
- Provide regular monitoring and network analysis for short‑ and long‑range planning.
- Coordinate third‑party maintenance and procurement with vendors.
- Mentor, train, and share knowledge with technical teams.
- Work outside normal business hours as needed.
- Travel locally and to other U.S. sites up to 30% of the time.
- Apply network engineering expertise to facility moves and new construction across classified programs.
- Gain advanced knowledge of leading network products and design/architecture for classified programs.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and a minimum of 6 years.
- Active and transferable U.S. government Secret clearance required before start date; U.S. citizenship required.
- Advanced knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, and authentication servers.
- Experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems, including software upgrades.
- Experience with platforms such as Cisco ISE, Cisco Call Manager, NTP, General Dynamics Gem One, and Solar Winds.
- Experience configuring, updating, and troubleshooting encryption devices and intrusion detection systems.
- Experience with classified computing, NIST and other security doctrine, STIG compliance, and network refreshes.
- Experience with project management, team leadership, and personnel development.
- Ability to solve complex problems with limited supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio.
- Certifications:
Security+ within 6 months, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) within a year. - Knowledge of network security and infrastructure best practices.
- Effective customer service and communication skills.
Salary range: $107,500 – $204,500 USD. Compensation varies with experience, location, and qualifications.
