we are currently seeking a qualified field technician to provide support in tucson, az.
duties and responsibilities- diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain printers, wide-format printers, plotters, kiosks, pos systems, computers, peripherals, and other it equipment
- troubleshoot hardware, software, network connectivity, and system-related issues
- install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, peripherals, software, and related applications
- configure and troubleshoot network devices and connectivity, including routers, switches, cabling, and internet connections
- perform basic cable installation, cable management, repair, and testing as required
- diagnose connectivity issues by verifying cable connections, power, network equipment, and device configurations
- re-terminate and repair network cables according to applicable wiring standards
- use cable testers and other diagnostic tools to identify cable faults and connectivity issues
- perform routine and preventive maintenance to optimize equipment performance and reliability
- provide technical assistance and professional customer support onsite and remotely when required
- clearly communicate technical issues, resolutions, and next steps with customers and internal support teams
- obtain customer confirmation that the issue has been resolved before completing the service call
- maintain a clean and organized work area during and after service activities
- maintain accurate service records, case notes, inventory records, and other required documentation
- track and manage it assets, equipment, parts, and inventory
- independently order, track, and manage replacement parts to support contractual service-level requirements
- coordinate with level ii, level iii, lead technicians, project teams, and remote support resources as needed
- support equipment installations, technology deployments, infrastructure projects, and other field service initiatives
- provide basic training and guidance to customers on new or existing technologies when required
- schedule and perform preventive or quarterly maintenance activities according to customer requirements
- support scheduled after-hours or overnight maintenance activities when required by the customer
- follow all company, customer, safety, security, and service procedures
- complete assigned work within established sla, quality, and customer service requirements
- strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, peripherals, and common it systems
- experience troubleshooting and repairing laser printers, wide-format printers, plotters, or similar electromechanical equipment
- experience with pos systems, kiosks, network equipment, or other specialized technology is a plus
- knowledge of basic networking concepts, including routers, switches, ip connectivity, and network troubleshooting
- experience with cable management, installation, repair, termination, and testing is a plus
- strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
- electromechanical experience is a plus
- ability to configure hardware and complete required software and application setups
- strong communication skills with excellent attention to detail
- excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers
- ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize issues, and work independently with minimal supervision
- ability to accurately document work performed, parts used, troubleshooting steps, and resolution details
- ability to collaborate effectively with other technicians, support teams, and customer representatives
- ability to use common hand and power tools, including a drill and tape measure
- ability and willingness to use a ladder with approximately 10-foot reach
- ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
- willingness to travel throughout the assigned geographic service area and work at customer locations
- willingness to provide occasional after-hours, overnight, weekend, or scheduled maintenance support as required
the rate for this position is between $16.50 - $22.00 per hour. factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
