Summary
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, maintenance, and support of enterprise network infrastructure and related services. This role ensures the availability, performance, and security of network systems including routers, switches, firewalls, VPN technologies, wireless infrastructure, voice platforms, and critical business applications.
The engineer provides technical leadership in evaluating, designing, implementing, and optimizing network solutions while maintaining service levels and operational continuity. This position also develops and enhances network standards, procedures, and methodologies to support business objectives and evolving technology requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure utilizing Cisco networking technologies.
- Configure and support routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.
- Manage advanced IP networking technologies including VLANs, VPNs, load balancing, access control lists (ACLs), wireless networks, and firewalls.
- Install, configure, and support network management and monitoring platforms.
- Implement and support IP-based video and collaboration technologies.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations for infrastructure improvements and strategic initiatives.
- Develop technical documentation, implementation plans, standards, and operational procedures.
- Participate in projects related to network expansion, modernization, migration, and optimization.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network performance, connectivity, and infrastructure issues.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, systems, and application teams to support business objectives.
- Create and communicate project status updates and technical reports.
- Ensure adherence to organizational security, compliance, and operational standards.
- Research and assess new hardware, software, and networking technologies.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience- Five (5)+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise TCP/IP network environments.
- Hands‑on experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies.
- Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Cisco ACI environments, including Multi‑Site Architecture (MSO) deployments.
- Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 network technologies, including VLAN design, SVI configuration, and migration efforts.
- Experience administering enterprise VPN solutions, including F5 APM.
- Experience deploying and managing Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
- Experience supporting data center networking environments.
- Experience troubleshooting complex network and infrastructure issues in enterprise environments.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
- Palo Alto certifications and other industry‑recognised networking certifications are highly desirable.
- Expert knowledge of enterprise switching technologies, Spanning Tree, VLANs, trunking, and advanced routing concepts.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and enterprise architecture.
- Expertise with routing protocols including BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF.
- Experience with network segmentation, redundancy, high availability, and disaster recovery concepts.
- Experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including Global Protect and large‑scale enterprise deployments.
- Strong understanding of VPN technologies, access controls, and network security best practices.
