Fundamental Income is seeking a full-time attorney to join our in-house legal team as Counsel, working directly with our SVP/Associate General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer. We are looking for a highly organized self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role supports the full real estate lifecycle, including acquisition, leasing, asset management, and portfolio operations
This position is located in Phoenix, Arizona, Onsite.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Support acquisitions, leasing, and ongoing property management across the portfolio.
- Manage the review, negotiation, and drafting of complex commercial transactions, including purchase agreements, leases, and related documents.
- Provide legal advice on real estate matters and participate in litigation and dispute resolution as needed.
- Advise on and manage condemnation actions, tenant disputes, adjacent property matters, tax‑related issues, and other real‑estate‑related claims.
- Review and recommend revisions to easement agreements, development agreements, restrictive covenants, and other property‑related documents.
- Collaborate closely with portfolio management, investments, capital markets, accounting, and other internal teams.
- Research, develop, and implement updates to legal templates and standard forms.
- Conduct legal research regarding regulatory and industry developments impacting company operations.
- Provide strategic, business‑focused guidance, balancing legal risk with operational and financial objectives.
- Identify risks and recommend practical solutions; implement process and policy improvements where appropriate.
- Respond to internal inquiries regarding real‑estate processes and procedures in a timely and service‑oriented manner.
- Complete assignments accurately and efficiently while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a dynamic environment.

- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the Arizona State Bar.
- 3–5 years of legal experience, preferably focused on commercial real estate, gained at a law firm or in‑house.
- Strong knowledge of real estate law, contract principles, and commercial transactions.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word (including document comparison tools), Excel, SharePoint, Planner, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and virtual collaboration platforms.
