Associate Attorney (Affirmative Family-Based Immigration)
Green Evans-Schroeder, a nationally recognized immigration law firm, is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Associate Attorney to support our affirmative immigration practice. This is an exceptional opportunity for a recent law graduate passionate about immigration law to develop expertise in a dynamic and supportive legal environment with a focus on affirmative, family-based, humanitarian, and employment-based immigration matters.
This position requires full-time work in our Tucson office.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Case Management
The entry-level affirmative immigration associate will be responsible for:
- Preparing and filing comprehensive immigration applications primarily pertaining to affirmative family-based immigration applications, consular processing, and humanitarian matters with USCIS and the Department of State.
- Conducting thorough client consultations and intake interviews
- Maintaining effective and respectful client communications, as well as communications with court staff and other government agencies, throughout the life of each case
- Drafting and reviewing legal documents, including affirmative family-based immigration petitions, supporting declarations, and comprehensive application packages
- Representing clients during USCIS interviews and administrative proceedings
- Maintaining organized electronic and paper files to safeguard client property and ensure compliance with ethical standards
- Conducting in-depth legal research on complex immigration law issues
- Ensuring compliance with all immigration regulations and ethical standards
- Proactively collaborating with the legal team consisting of paralegals and legal assistants, to ensure effective and efficient case progress
Professional Development
- Collaborate closely with supervising partners and senior attorneys to develop case strategies
- Participate in ongoing legal education and training
- Remain current with evolving immigration laws and policy changes
- Contribute to the firm's knowledge base and best practices
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership in good standing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to serving diverse client populations
- Language: Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish is required.
- Computer
Skills:
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).Legal research, case management software, document maintenance and preparation. Experience with immigration-related online forms. - Research
Skills:
Associates must need to research aspects of immigration law and procedure relevant to their cases to problem solve and troubleshoot. - Organizational
Skills:
Associates will manage a high volume of diverse family-based and humanitarian immigration cases and must develop effective systems to ensure their professional and ethical obligations are met in each case.
Preferred
- Strong academic background with demonstrated interest in immigration law
- Prior experience with legal case management software
- Experience with hourly billing
