Purchasing Agent Position

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for managing the purchasing and supply management process including receiving orders, processing purchase orders, maintaining appropriate inventory control, maintains revenue and cost controls, maintaining control of supplies and equipment for all departments, negotiates with vendors as required and oversees national and local purchasing contract compliance.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Coordinates and oversees daily workflow to ensure efficient operations of the department.
• Negotiates prices and contracts with outside vendors.
• Manages the purchase order process for hospital supplies.
• Ensures that required documentation and inventory logs are maintained in accordance with policy.
• Performs a physical inventory as required by hospital policy.
• Reviews and updates all departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintains and manages purchasing process to ensure that par levels are consistently met.
• Manages inventory to optimize the cost of supplies and equipment.
• Maintains a daily rental equipment log.
• Orders medical and clinical supplies for the hospital.
• Forwards all invoices to accounts payable for timely processing.
• Organizes, plans, and manages time effectively to complete assignments.
• Meets position requirements and performs essential functions.
• Completes mandatory training and courses required by completion date.
• Reports questionable situations, concerns, complaints or harassment immediately.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
