On-Call Janitor (Evening Shift)

Service Master is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented On-Call Janitor to support school sites within the Tucson, AZ district by filling in during employee call-outs, absences, and vacations. This on‑call position plays a critical role in maintaining clean, safe, and orderly environments after school hours. Ideal candidates are dependable, flexible with scheduling, and take pride in delivering high-quality cleaning services as needed.

Hours:

Monday - Friday 3PM - 11:30PM
Start time may vary by up to one hour depending on the location needing coverage.

• Provide daily leadership, direction, and motivation to a team of custodians.
• Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed to Service Master standards and meet client expectations.
• Act as the point of contact between team members and Service Master management.
• Perform regular walk‑throughs at assigned school sites to monitor cleanliness and address any concerns.
• Assign work duties and adjust schedules based on team availability and site needs.
• Train new team members on cleaning protocols, equipment usage, and safety practices.
• Manage and track cleaning supplies, request restocks, and maintain inventory at each site.
• Secure school facilities at the end of each shift, including locking doors and setting alarms where required.
• Report maintenance needs and incidents to appropriate school personnel and Service Master leadership.
• Ensure all safety and compliance guidelines are followed.

• Must be 18 years or older
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a drug screen test
• Ability to pass a background check required by the school district
• Able to obtain Fingerprint Clearance card or currently possess one

• 1+ years of janitorial, custodial, or related experience
• Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role a plus
• Bilingual in English / Spanish preferred, but not required
• Strong communication and organizational skills
