Job Overview
A CNC Machinist responsible for setting up and operating conventional and CNC machines on complex precision production parts. Operates rotary, vibrating, tumbling, and grit blasting equipment, as well as material preparation and finishing tools. Uses inspection equipment and maintains blueprints and tolerances.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate conventional and CNC machines on precision parts produced from standard to exotic materials.
- Maintain quality of setups using knowledge of tools, geometry, feeds, speeds, and blueprint/planning.
- Use Standard Inspection Equipment to ensure quality assurance during machining operations.
- Remove burrs and sharp edges on metallic and nonmetallic fabricated parts.
- Maintain acceptable finishes and hold part tolerances per blueprint/planning requirements using manual and power equipment.
- Set up and operate rotary, vibrating, tumbling, grit blasting, and material prep equipment with proper speeds and feeds for shearing and cutting.
- Work with magnification or visual enhancement equipment (microscopes, eyepieces, optic visors) on small parts.
- Perform machine and tooling offset changes, evaluate tool wear, and change tools such as mills, inserts, drills, and reamers.
- Make minor edits to CNC programs (tool stations, spindle direction).
- Work any designated shift, including overnight.
- Obtain and maintain an ATF clearance.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED).
- At least 2 years recent experience within the last 4 years operating CNC and conventional machines.
- Ability to work from verbal and written instructions (work orders, CNC data sheets, blueprints).
- Proficiency with inspection equipment: micrometers, dial calipers, thread gauges, plug gauges, air gauges.
- Experience with machine and tooling offset changes and tool wear evaluation.
- Capability to edit CNC programs for tool stations and spindle direction.
- Ability to work any shift, including overnight.
- Must obtain and maintain ATF clearance.
- Preferred:
Completed a Machine Tool Technology Certificate in CNC Machinist Concentration with a minimum 3.5 GPA.
