Overview
Raytheon (RTX) is hiring an RF Engineering Technician I for the Effector RF Design Department. The role is onsite in Tucson, AZ and requires a U.S. citizen with a valid DoD Secret clearance. The position involves RF circuit card (CCA) prototyping, assembly, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection of circuit card assemblies, cables, and harness systems in a variety of engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble, modify, rework, and populate CCA prototypes to meet operational criteria.
- Read, understand, and follow printed schematics, sketches, and verbal or written instructions, including test procedures.
- Perform micro‑soldering under a microscope for extended periods.
- Build cables and harnesses from schematics.
- Conduct quality verification and inspection using a microscope.
- Identify, repair, and replace wire harnesses, cable assemblies, mechanical and electrical components.
- Operate multimeters or ohmmeters for point‑to‑point current checks.
- Diagnose failures, isolate problems, and recommend corrective actions.
- Communicate potential problems or identified risks to management.
- Provide support and feedback to the Engineering team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience; less than two years of related experience.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Ability to read and follow schematics, printouts, sketches, verbal or written instructions, and test procedures.
- Proficiency with hand tools such as soldering iron, cutters, wire strippers, and electric heat gun.
- Knowledge of safe laboratory chemical use.
- Experience with soldering, mechanical quality standards, processes, and documentation.
- Verification and inspection experience with applicable standards and documentation.
- Experience with cable and harness assembly, fabrication, or rework.
- Experience in CCA manufacturing and associated fabrication standards, processes, and documentation.
- Strong self‑starter with independent and collaborative work ability.
- Ability to perform quality work in a fast‑paced engineering environment.
- Experience with solder rework equipment (reflow oven, mini‑wave, pre‑heater, hot air pencil, desolder tools).
- Familiarity with bonding, cleaning, coating, and mechanical fastening processes.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and set customer priorities.
- IPC J‑STD‑001 solder certification.
- IPC 610 and 620 acceptability certification and inspection experience.
