Welder - 2nd shift – Tucson, AZ

Pay Range: $39,800.00 – $54,700.00 annually
Eligible for incentive bonus
The Welder I performs welding and fabrication tasks to produce precision parts and components. The role prioritizes safety, quality, and efficiency. The employee works under the supervision of senior welders and supervisors to ensure production goals are met while following company policies and procedures.

- Hazardous Communication – follow protocols and grinding safety
- Control of Hazardous Energy (LOTO) – implement lockout/tagout procedures
- Mobile and Powered Equipment Operation – safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks
- Crane Operations – perform inspections, operation, and rigging
- Machine Guarding – ensure guarding and E-Stop awareness/operation
- Policy Adherence – follow JM Life Critical Policies
- Waste Management – manage scrap metal and environmental considerations
- JSA – comprehend and sign off on Job Safety Analysis
- Housekeeping – maintain cleanliness and organization
- Hot Work – understand permitted areas and housekeeping
- Computer/Data Entry
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft O365 applications)
- Reporting Systems – perform quality control inspections and report deficiencies
- Data Entry – document work orders via SAP ERP and quality control documentation
- SOPs – locate and use Standard Operating Procedures via Share Point
- Training – navigate computer‑based training for safety and compliance
- General Industry
- Tool Use – use hand and power tools effectively
- Measuring – use precision measuring tools for dimensional tolerancing
- Shop Math – apply basic shop math
- Blueprint Interpretation – interpret blueprints and identify weld symbols
- Job/Trade Specific
- Equipment – maintain welding equipment and tools
- Collaboration – work with team members to complete projects on time
- Set‑up – set up welding machines and use programs and profiles
- Tooling/Fixtures – use fixturing and rotary tables for fabrication tasks
- Welding – perform basic welding of carbon steel, stainless steel, Inconel, and aluminum
- Metallurgy – understand heat control and alloy effects
- Inspection – perform visual inspections for cracks and porosity
- Inspection – complete pressure testing of welded parts
- Production – meet or exceed minimum standard times for assigned tasks
- Equipment
- Use fabrication shop equipment such as shear, plate roller, hydraulic press, hand break, foot shear, swaging, and flaring
- Dexterity
- Good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity, ability to weld in multiple positions/angles
- Alloy Department
- Welding – TIG (GTAW) proficiency
- Fabrication – complete products using kit of materials, SOPs, blueprints
- Inspection – complete dye penetrant testing of welded parts
- Proficiency – meet alloy department skills matrix minimum requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and follow safety protocols
- Minimum 1 year of welding/fabrication operational experience
- Associate degree or certificate in Welding or similar program
- 3+ years of welding experience
- Experience with all disciplines of welding
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds
- Standing for extended periods
- Manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination
- Manufacturing plant with noise, dust, and machinery exposure
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
