Position Summary
The Manufacturing Inventory Control & Receiving Manager is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and flow of all material entering and moving through the manufacturing operation. This role leads inventory control and receiving functions to ensure materials are received correctly, recorded accurately, stored appropriately, and made available to production without disruption.
This position is accountable for the end‑to‑‑end inventory and receiving experience for internal customers-manufacturing, quality, procurement, engineering, and planning-by delivering reliable inventory accuracy, predictable material availability, and disciplined control processes that support production efficiently.
Essential Duties- Lead all receiving activities for raw materials, components, supplies, tooling, and capital equipment.
- Ensure inbound shipments are verified against purchase orders, packing lists, and specifications.
- Coordinate inspection and disposition of received materials with Engineering (as applicable).
- Ensure nonconforming, damaged, or discrepant material is identified, segregated, documented, and resolved.
- Maintain clear dock scheduling, unloading procedures, and traffic flow to support safe and timely receiving.
- Ensure received materials are put away correctly and available to production on time.
- Coordinate material release from receiving to approved inventory locations.
- Partner with production, planning, and procurement to resolve material shortages and receiving bottleneck.
- Establish standardized receiving work instructions and training.
- Own inventory accuracy across all storage locations including warehouse, point of use, WIP, and secured areas (facilities' yards/patios).
- Ensure all inventory transactions are timely, accurate, and compliant with company policy in Net Suite.
- Lead cycle count programs, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for inventory discrepancies.
- Executes daily inventory analysis identifying and resolving any discrepancies and problems.
- Oversee stock item master ensuring correct descriptions and stock numbers.
- Coordinate, execute, and support physical inventories per developed schedule and parameters.
- Establish controls for lot tracking, serial control, expiration dating, and traceability for inventory items as applicable.
- Support kitting, staging, and line‑side delivery when required.
- Ensure Stock Turnover (FIFO) practices are followed from receipt through consumption.
- Leverage ERP/WMS systems to ensure accurate receiving, inventory transactions, and reporting in Net Suite.
- Ensure system data accurately reflects physical inventory at all times.
- Develop and monitor metrics such as inventory accuracy, receiving cycle time, WIP delivery time, and discrepancy rates.
- Prepare routine reports and performance summaries for operations leadership.
- Partner with Systems and supply chain teams on system enhancements and process automation.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures related to receiving and inventory control.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Develop strategies and ensure the right resources are available.
- Ensure team is productive and morale is maintained.
- Drive accountability through performance metrics, regular feedback, and formal evaluations.
- Provide timely performance reviews throughout the year.
- Partner with human resources to address conflict within the department.
- Lead, train, and develop receiving personnel, inventory control specialists, and material handlers.
- Conduct and support cross‑training and certification (forklift, material handling, Net Suite transactions).
- Forecast and budget to maximize resources.
- Monitor costs related to labor, maintenance, utilities, fuel, parts, and contracted services.
- Identify cost‑reduction opportunities without compromising safety, compliance, or service quality.
- Develop systems and processes to delivering reliable service, safe environments, high equipment availability, and continuous improvement across warehouse, facilities, and fleet functions.
