Job Overview
The Value Stream Lead (VSL) is accountable for all manufacturing‑related activities within a production or depot‑manufacturing environment at the Tucson, AZ site. The role reports to a Value Stream Manager and manages the daily direction of up to 20+ touch labor employees within one shift, ensuring continuous manufacturing of line‑flow or end‑item products while maintaining quality, cost, and schedule targets.
Responsibilities- Interface and interact with site leadership, schedule, quality, and cost performance management of assigned work areas.
- Provide required resources (facilities, processes, equipment, training, etc.) to ensure employees work in a safe working environment.
- Communicate customer and site requirements to the bargaining unit workforce.
- Interface with support employees, including planning, engineering, quality and other Value Stream Leaders across shifts.
- Manage and lead up to 20+ touch personnel.
- Perform sequencing, planning, scheduling, coordination, and reporting tasks to support the manufacturing workflow.
- Prioritize project issues and assist in resolution processes to meet productivity, quality, and organizational goals and contractual delivery requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all pertinent operating procedures, organizational directives, and work instructions.
- University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of three (3) years of experience.
- Experience in manufacturing or operations.
- Supervisory or managerial experience.
- Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance required prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Material resource planning experience within an enterprise resource planning system (e.g., SAP) or similar.
- Understanding of an operation environment (TAKT, line balancing, value stream mapping).
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and/or implementation.
- Knowledge of bargaining unit agreement compliance.
- Strong knowledge of production control concepts including WIP management and TAKT.
- Understanding of estimate at completion (EAC) process and hours per unit (HPU).
