Job Summary

The Bike Shop in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Fabrication Lead Technician to work in a mechanical fabrication shop, executing a variety of mechanical fabrication efforts at an exceptional quality level and collaborating in a dynamic, fast‑paced, integrated team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Quick‑turn machining of critical prototype, aerospace parts and test assemblies from metal and non‑metal materials using precision manual mills and lathes.
  • Operate general machine shop tools and support equipment, including dimensional measuring tools.
  • Work with basic sketches, under‑developed drawing packages, and model renderings to set up and run fabrications.
  • Manage all aspects of fabrication: part/machine setup, safe equipment operation, part inspection, workload management, customer schedule support, delegation, and coordination of work when required.
  • Work in a multi‑program controlled area and report to the Mechanical Prototyping and Fabrication Section Lead.
  • Obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience independently operating manual mills and lathes.
  • Eight (8) or more years interpreting mechanical blueprints/technical drawings and machining one‑of‑a‑kind quality, in‑tolerance parts per drawing specifications.
  • Ability to inspect machined parts using standard precision measuring instruments to ensure tolerances are met.
  • Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Preferred: AA/AS degree or equivalent 2‑year post‑high‑school training (machining, fabrication, or apprenticeship).
  • Basic experience developing and manipulating computer‑generated 3D models in Creo or similar CAD system.
  • Knowledgeable in the setup/operation of manual coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Competent computer skills – Windows, MS Office products.
  • Previous working experience with CNC and/or conversational programming, setup, and operation of CAM software such as Mastercam.
Salary

USD 60,000 – 114,000
