Advanced Coating Technician

• Pay Range: $26.72 - $36.40

• Perform surface preparation, coating, finishing, and inspection of fabricated parts, assemblies, composite structures, airframes, and test equipment.
• Utilize various coating technologies and processes, including paints, epoxies, urethanes, powder coat, electrolytic, mechanical, and immersion applications to meet engineering and quality specifications.
• Set up, adjust, and operate robotic, automatic, and manual coating equipment, spray guns, airbrushes, hoists, fixtures, and other specialized tools.
• Execute masking, grit blasting, chemical etching, and other surface preparation operations.
• Mix and adjust coating materials to required specifications and conduct process verifications such as temperature, humidity, and cleanliness checks.
• Make minor equipment adjustments, troubleshoot, and maintain precision measuring instruments to ensure proper coating application and component conformance.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with safety and environmental requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, Process Floor Support, and other technical personnel on new coatings or procedures, and perform rework or corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure all work is conducted safely, following prescribed operating instructions, PPE requirements, and regulatory standards.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year of experience applying advanced coatings such as paints, epoxies, and urethanes on fabricated parts, assemblies, or composite structures.
• Experience with surface preparation using Bondo®, masking, grit blasting, sanding, and chemical rinsing processes.
• Minimum 1 year of experience preparing, measuring, mixing, and adjusting paints to meet viscosity and specification requirements.
• Experience troubleshooting and making minor adjustments to coating equipment.
• Minimum 1 year of experience handling hazardous materials, including mixing, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste.
• Ability to work any designated shift, including overnight.
• Show aptitude for obtaining and maintaining a U.S. Secret clearance before the start date.
• U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.
• Obtain and maintain an Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF) clearance.
