Manufacturing Cell Lead (MCL)
The Manufacturing Cell Lead (MCL) is accountable for all manufacturing-related activities within a production or depot-manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will report to a Value Stream Leader, on our Tucson, AZ site and be accountable for the daily management and direction of up to 20+ touch labor employees within one shift. The MCL will be tasked to define clear operational schedules, priorities, goals, and collaborate with functional support employees to allow for continuous manufacturing of line-flow or end-of-item products.
Additionally, MCL will have accountability for the quality of production, and depot products, while being delivered on time at or below cost targets.
This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas. The candidate must be capable and willing to work extended hours (when required) in a fast-paced deadline driven environment. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in manufacturing leadership role.
This is a second shift position.
What You Will Do- Interface and interactions with site Leadership
- Schedule, Quality and Cost performance management of assigned work areas
- Provide the required resources (facilities, processes, equipment, training, etc.) to ensure all employees work in a safe working environment
- Communication of customer and site requirements to bargaining unit workforce
- Interface with support employees including planning, engineering, quality and other Value Stream Leaders across shifts
- Manage and lead up to 20+ touch personnel
- Perform a wide variety of sequencing, planning, scheduling, coordinating and reporting tasks in support of the manufacturing workflow
- Prioritizes project issues and assists in the resolutions process to meet productivity, quality, and organizational goals and contractual delivery requirements
- Ensure compliance with all pertinent operating procedures, organizational directives and work instructions
- Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of five (5) years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum three (3) years' experience.
- Experience with either manufacturing or operations.
- Supervisory or managerial experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Material Resource Planning experience within an Enterprise Resource Planning system or like system (SAP, Expected at Complete, IMDS - Integrated Maintenance Data System, TMSS (Tactical Missile Reporting System)
- Understanding of an Operation Environment (TAKT, Line Balancing, Value Stream Mapping)
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts and/or implementation
- Knowledge of Bargaining Unit Agreement & Compliance
- Strong knowledge of Production Control concepts including WIP management and TAKT
- Understanding of Estimate At Completion (EAC) process and Hours Per Unit (HPU)
