Production Manager, Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma
Overview
The Manufacturing Cell Lead (MCL) is responsible for all manufacturing‑related activities within a production or depot‑manufacturing environment on the Tucson, AZ site. The MCL reports to a Value Stream Leader and oversees the daily management and direction of up to 20+ touch labor employees across one shift.
Key responsibilities include defining operational schedules, priorities, and goals; collaborating with functional support employees to enable continuous manufacturing of line‑flow or end‑of‑item products; and ensuring product quality while meeting time and cost targets.
Responsibilities- Interface with site leadership, schedule, quality, and cost performance management.
- Provide required resources (facilities, processes, equipment, training) to ensure a safe work environment.
- Communicate customer and site requirements to the bargaining unit workforce.
- Interface with support employees including planning, engineering, quality and other Value Stream Leaders across shifts.
- Manage and lead up to 20+ touch personnel.
- Sequence, plan, schedule, coordinate, and report tasks supporting the manufacturing workflow.
- Prioritize project issues and assist in resolution to meet productivity, quality, and contractual delivery requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all operating procedures, organizational directives, and work instructions.
This position covers weekends:
Friday – Sunday, 6:00AM – 6:00PM, with additional hours to be made up during the week as needed.
U.S. citizenship and a DoD Secret Security Clearance (active and transferable) are required prior to start date.
QualificationsMust Have:
- University degree (or equivalent) and minimum 5 years of relevant experience; or Advanced degree with at least 3 years of experience.
- Experience in manufacturing or operations.
- Supervisory or managerial experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance.
Preferred:
- Material Resource Planning experience within an ERP system (e.g., SAP).
- Understanding of operational environments such as Takt, Line Balancing, and Value Stream Mapping.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts and implementations.
- Knowledge of Bargaining Unit Agreement & Compliance.
- Strong knowledge of Production Control concepts, including WIP management, Takt, Estimate at Completion (EAC), and Hours Per Unit (HPU).

Salary range is 86,800–165,200 USD annually.
