Got a sharp eye for detail and enjoy hands‑on precision work? We’re looking for a Grinding Operator to join our machining and finishing team. You’ll take metal parts from rough to right‑on‑spec, using grinding equipment to hit exact dimensions and surface finishes on every piece. If you like the satisfaction of measuring twice, grinding once, and seeing your work pass inspection, we want to talk to you.
Whether you’re an experienced grinder or coming in with solid mechanical aptitude and ready to learn, we’ll support you in building real, transferable skills in a stable manufacturing environment.
Running the Grind- Operate surface, cylindrical, or bench grinding equipment
- Set up machines – wheel selection, dressing, and adjustments
- Grind parts to spec on dimensions, tolerances, and finish
- Monitor and fine‑tune as you go to keep quality on target
- Perform first‑piece and in‑process checks
- Read blueprints, routings, and specs like a pro
- Use micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify your work
- Catch burrs, burns, or defects before they become a problem
- Flag any non‑conforming material to your supervisor or Quality
- Keep parts identified and traceable through the process
- Safely load/unload parts using proper technique or equipment
- Keep your work area organized (5S habits welcome!)
- Help keep production flowing and on schedule
- Team up with other machining and finishing operators as needed
- Follow safety policies, PPE requirements, and machine guarding standards
- Do basic equipment checks and flag maintenance needs
- Handle grinding wheels, coolants, and materials the right way
- Join in on safety training and improvement initiatives
- Some know‑how with grinding tools and equipment (surface, cylindrical, or bench grinders)
- Comfort reading drawings and work instructions
- A sharp eye for detail and pride in quality work
- Basic understanding of materials and surface finishes
- Good time management to keep pace with production schedules
- A genuine commitment to safety and a clean, organized workspace
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous grinding or machining experience
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions confidently
- Some standing/walking on the production floor
- Manual dexterity for handling tools, documents, and equipment
- Ability to read detailed data, charts, and specs on screens and paper
- Occasional lifting/carrying up to 20 lbs
