Job Summary

Position:
Fabricator/Technician – Onsite.

Location:

Tucson, AZ. Requires U.S. citizenship and U.S. Secret Clearance. Start Pay Rate: $34.38/hr.

Responsibilities
  • Perform fabrication, assembly, installation, diagnosis, repair, and modification on hydraulic, pneumatic, refrigeration, vacuum, and gas systems associated with test equipment.
  • Conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate new and repaired units.
  • Coordinate with engineers to plan, lay out, and make mechanical modifications to test positions and units, following accepted standard practices.
  • Create sketches or diagrams to support mechanical modifications.
  • Document all tests and recommend refinements in test equipment and maintenance procedures.
  • Carry out periodic preventive maintenance as directed.
  • Perform brazing, soldering, minor sheet metal work, and incidental tasks as needed.
  • Operate hand tools (micrometers, dial calipers, indicators, height gauges) and portable power tools and machine tools (lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, band saws, belt sanders).
  • Interpret primary design drawings, prints, schematic flow diagrams, sketches or verbal/written instructions to determine practical fabrication procedures.
  • Handle shop floor control system, document equipment scheduling and maintenance records, request supplies, and report machine repairs.
  • Rework, refurbish, and modify parts and equipment as required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in layout, fabrication, assembly, checking, and testing of hydraulic, vacuum, pneumatic, and refrigeration mechanical/electromechanical equipment.
  • Machine shop skills: setting up and operating conventional lathes, mills, drills, and pedestal grinders.
  • Experience working from blueprints, primary design drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to visualize and determine practical fabrication of apparatus or equipment and materials.
  • Must pass qualifying and/or practical test.
  • Must obtain and maintain U.S. Secret Clearance prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ATF clearance.
  • Must be able to work any designated shift, including overnight.
