Salary Grade: 13, Pay Range: $29.09 – $40.73 per hour.

Key responsibilities involve maintaining and troubleshooting communication networks, field instrumentation, operation and programming of PLCs, and entry‑level SCADA system networking. They coordinate comprehensive maintenance programs, including panel wiring, instrument calibration, system integration, and collaborate with the IT Department for SCADA servers and networks. Responsibilities also include managing radio communication networks, maintaining critical alarm systems, and administering data collection platforms such as Intela Trac, Thin Client Manager, and E‑Logger.

Functions
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and optimizes PLCs, SCADA systems, HMI, and automated control systems.
  • Installs, configures, calibrates, and repairs process control instrumentation.
  • Analyzes process data and system performance to identify inefficiencies and ensure compliance.
  • Leads diagnostics to resolve control system failures and operational issues promptly.
  • Manages and maintains critical alarm notification systems, including Win‑911.
  • Administers and optimizes data collection platforms including Intela Trac, Thin Client Manager, and E‑Logger.
  • Maintains communication networks, radio systems and industrial protocols.
  • Oversees SCADA servers and network infrastructure with IT Department.
  • Executes preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Maintains detailed records of system configurations and maintenance.
  • Interprets technical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Performs PLC programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting, including SCADA administration.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in electronics technology, instrumentation and process control, or related field.
  • Four years of experience in repair, maintenance, installation, calibration and/or operation of electronic instrumentation and PLC/SCADA systems, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Alternatively, three years of experience with Pima County as an Instrumentation Process Control Coordinator I or similar position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic instrumentation.
  • Two years of PLC programming and troubleshooting experience, including industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, HART, Bluetooth, Ethernet/IP).
  • One year experience reading panel drawings, electrical schematics, and P&.
  • One year experience with RF/telemetry, networked radios, and microwave radio systems.
  • Experience with data collection systems such as Intela Trac and E‑Logger and alarm platforms like Win‑911.
Licenses and Certificates

Valid driver license required at time of application (AZ license at time of appointment). DOT motor vehicle record review may be required.

Physical/Sensory Requirements
  • Body flexibility and stamina for standing, walking, sitting, grasping, and manipulation, frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Capacity to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to don and doff fall protection for confined spaces.
  • Corrected or sufficient vision required; ability to see and interpret colors.
  • Corrected or sufficient hearing required; ability to comprehend voice communications.
Working Conditions

Operation of machinery, powered equipment, and motor vehicles. Outdoor work during inclement and hot weather. Exposure to waterborne pathogens, hazardous materials, gases, slips, fall hazards, electric arc flash potential.
