Summary

The Shop Lead / Welder oversees daily shop operations while performing hands-on welding, fabrication, assembly, material handling, and quality control duties. This position leads by example, coordinates workflow, supports production employees, and ensures safety, quality, and production deadlines are met.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate daily shop floor activities to meet production schedules and quality standards.
  • Assign work, monitor workflow, and communicate priorities and production issues to management.
  • Train, coach, and support shop employees while promoting safety, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, assembly, and installation of structural components, frames, doors, windows, and related products.
  • Read and follow drawings, purchase orders, measurements, and work instructions.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and other machinery as authorized.
  • Inspect materials and finished products for quality, damage, and accuracy.
  • Load, unload, organize, stage, pack, and secure materials and finished products for shipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Identify production, quality, and workflow issues and assist with corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing, welding, fabrication, or assembly experience.
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to read basic drawings and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Forklift certification and welding certification/training preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
