LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE - NIGHT SHIFT

12- hour shifts with every other weekend off (6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.)

Salary and Shift Differential

Salary: $26.3083 - $31.0096 hourly (DOE). A shift differential is paid for nights at 10% of base pay. Eligible weekend shifts receive supplemental pay at 10% of base pay.

Job Duties
  • Administer medication and perform treatments on an assigned unit as ordered by the physician and within scope of license (Medications may be in a variety of forms including oral, enteral, parenteral, suppository, etc. Treatments may include sterile and aseptic wound cleaning and dressing, postural drainage and percussion, tracheostomy, gastrostomy and jejunostomy care and catheter care.)
  • Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments
  • Ensure an adequate amount of supplies and medication are available
  • Receive and deliver a variety of information regarding resident medical, social, functional, and other needs
  • Participate in receiving and giving of shift reports
  • Communicate with residents, family, and staff as necessary to ensure residents receive appropriate care from the interdisciplinary team
  • Complete the initial admission nursing assessment tool on a newly admitted resident
  • Assist with the development of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews, and care plans
  • Supervise subordinate staff and assist with direct resident care for the completion of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, observations, treatment, and summary of resident progress
  • Conduct and participate in in‑service training and staff development programs for regularly employed staff and other duties as assigned
    Train/orient new employees
  • Perform technical duties as assigned (e.g., collect specimens, respond to emergency situations rapidly and appropriately)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

Knowledge of:

  • Gerontological/geriatric nursing theory and practice
  • Resident condition and changing medical/physical /psychological care needs
  • Effects of the aging process
  • Practices and procedures of team nursing
  • Practices and procedures for implementing treatment plans for resident/patient care
  • Practices and procedures of pharmacology and medicines
  • Federal, State and agency laws, rules and regulations governing general practical nursing practices and the security and control of medical supplies and medications and dispensing thereof

Skill in:

  • Practical nursing methods and techniques
  • Observing and reporting behavior and progress of residents/patients
  • Applying and interpreting State and agency laws and regulations governing geriatric nursing practices
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of patient care plans within a team nursing concept
  • Oral and written communication
  • Interpersonal skills

Ability to:

  • Assess client needs and evaluate usefulness or suitability of resources
  • Work with difficult people; establish and maintain excellent working relationships with clients, client families, team members and service providers
Selective Preference(s)

One or more years of experience in a skilled nursing or long‑term care facility
