Overview

Arizona Blood and Cancer Specialists is a clinical practice focused on compassionate oncology care, partnering with One Oncology to provide the latest research and treatments. The organization values collaboration, courage, and individualized patient care.

Summary

This position supports physicians in patient care and serves as a resource for chemotherapy nurses and other staff. The role includes seeing patients at the satellite clinic one day a week and providing continuity of care when physicians are absent.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses and examines patients
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic lab and radiology tests
  • Plans and orders treatments
  • Writes histories, physicals, and orders for hospital admission
  • Communicates and consults with physicians regarding patients
  • Dictates notes, office visit letters, and other documentation
  • Reviews pathology and records of new patients
  • Obtains missing information when necessary
  • Identifies patients eligible for research trials with MD and research staff
  • Evaluates patients with problems via phone nurse or chemotherapy nurse
  • Orders and interprets lab work for employee safety monitoring
  • Provides continuity of care when a physician is out of the office
  • Interfaces with Medical Records, Front Desk, nurses, and physicians regarding charts, appointments, and treatment plans
  • Interfaces with area hospitals to report patient condition
  • Respects patient dignity and confidentiality
  • Maintains a professional attitude and appearance
  • Complies with clinic safety policy and procedures
  • Possesses effective communication skills for a collaborative work environment
  • Attends staff meetings and training as scheduled
  • Assists with training and orientation of new employees when assigned
Qualifications
  • Oncology experience preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school; successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program
  • RN state licensure and current registration with the Arizona Board of Nursing
  • Nurse Practitioner licensure in Arizona
  • Physician Assistant with a Master’s degree and graduation from an accredited PA program, current NCCPA certification
  • Licensed to practice in Arizona
