Banner University Medical Group and the Division of General Internal Medicine, Palliative Medicine, and Geriatrics are seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to join our growing palliative care program in Tucson, Arizona. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care within an academic medical inpatient setting to adult patients aged 18 and older with serious, chronic, or life‑limiting illnesses.
The Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner will join an interdisciplinary team model working closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, and learners and collaborating with chaplains, case managers, community hospice, and other staff. The qualified candidate must be detail‑oriented, a good communicator, and dedicated to providing excellent care in challenging situations.
The ideal ACNP/FNP candidate will be passionate about this type of specialized medical care for people with serious illnesses requiring end‑of‑life care. The NP will be involved in clinical symptom management, engaging in serious and end‑of‑life discussions with patients and their families, and providing consultations regarding goals of care and advance care planning.
Minimum Requirements:- Current/Eligible (ACNP)/(FNP) Certification and Arizona License
- ACHPN preferred or expected to obtain within 2 years of joining the team
- Current CPR and BLS
- Current prescribing privileges including a DEA license for controlled substances
- Experience preferred in Palliative, Hospice, Geriatrics, ICU, or Oncology
- Excellent communication and team skills and ready to thrive in an academic environment
Full Time M‑F Daytime Shift (7‑5) No Call, No Weekends!

The Palliative Care Team is based at Banner University Medical Center Tucson, a robust academic medical center and consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, and social workers. The team provides inpatient consultation for patients with serious illness across a broad range of specialized services including Neurology, Medical, Cardiac, and Surgical ICUs, Transplant, Oncology, and Advanced Heart Failure. The team also provides outpatient support and symptom management within the University of Arizona Cancer Center, an NCI‑designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.
