• Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols.
• Implements and monitors patient care plans; monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well‑coordinated patient care.
• Documents physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.

• Initial assessment.

Problem identification is the nurse’s clinical judgment about the patient’s response to actual or potential health conditions or needs.

• Sets measurable and achievable short‑ and long‑range goals in collaboration with patient and family.
• Establishes daily goals with the patient and family.
• Formulates a plan of care.
• Plans transition or discharge.

• Applies nursing care according to the care plan, ensuring continuity from hospitalization to discharge.
• Ensures patient safety.
• Administers medication.
• Provides ordered treatments.
• Educates patient and family.
• Documents nursing care in the healthcare record.

Both the patient’s status and the effectiveness of nursing care are continuously evaluated, and the care plan is modified as needed.

• Education:
  
  Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Experience:
  
  One (1) year as an RN.
• Licensure/
  
  Certifications:
  
  Valid current Arizona Nursing License or compact state license and ability to become Arizona licensed in 30 days.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• American Heart Association and others as required by the individual department.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Licensure/
  
  Certifications:
  
  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or others as required by the individual department.
