Infection Control Nurse​/Nurse Educator

Responsibilities

Palo Verde Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking an experienced Infection Control RN / Nurse Educator. The Infection Control / Nurse Educator is a registered professional nurse who will facilitate orientation for all new staff, focusing on nurses in the classroom setting during the last half of orientation, teaching and assessing many competencies, and handing off new staff to preceptors to complete orientation competencies.

The role also involves identifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting healthcare‑associated infections and collaborating with teams to develop infection prevention strategies and provide ongoing feedback. Additional duties include providing professional supervisions for Behavioral Health Techs (BHTs) and RNs with less than one year of psychiatric experience, overseeing online education and training, and ensuring required training is uploaded and completed monthly.

Palo Verde Behavioral Health Hospital is an 84‑bed, short‑term, acute care hospital located in Tucson, AZ, offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. • Education: Must have a Master’s Degree in a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 3‑5 years in a similar position, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
• Certification: Certified in infection control and epidemiology.
