Position: INFECTION CONTROL NURSE/NURSE EDUCATOR

Position Summary

The Infection Control / Nurse Educator is a registered professional nurse who will facilitate orientation for all new staff, focusing on nurses in the classroom setting during the last half of orientation, teaching and assessing many competencies and passing new staff off to preceptors who will oversee completion of the orientation competencies. The role also assists with formulation and implementation of training in identified areas such as multicultural awareness and diversity sensitivity, evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with the health team, addresses assessed needs with education programs, oversees Health Streams online training, provides supervision for Behavioral Health Techs and RNs with less than one year of psychiatric experience.

This position is responsible for identifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting healthcare‑associated infections, collaborating with teams to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain those strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate orientation for new staff, focusing on nursing competencies during the last half of orientation.
  • Assist with formulation and implementation of training programs, including multicultural awareness and diversity sensitivity curricula.
  • Evaluate patient care through collaboration with the health team and address needs with education programs.
  • Oversee Health Streams online training: upload required education monthly for staff.
  • Provide professional supervision for Behavioral Health Techs and RNs with less than one year of psychiatric experience.
  • Identify, investigate, monitor, and report healthcare‑associated infections.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop infection prevention strategies and provide feedback.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
  • Certification in infection control and epidemiology.
  • RN license in Arizona.
