Position

Clinical Nurse Lead – requires a minimum of 2 years of broad based operating room experience.

Responsibilities

The Clinical Nurse Leader is responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of safe and effective patient‑centered care. The role includes mentoring staff, ensuring adequate resources for each shift, coordinating admissions and discharges, and upholding professional standards.

  • Facilitate and mentor staff to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills.
  • Continuously assess unit needs to ensure adequate resources for current and upcoming shifts.
  • Collaborate across departments to coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and uphold standards of practice by holding team members accountable for continued compliance.

  • Competency:

    complete annual competency evaluations, keep education profiles current, demonstrate understanding of regulatory requirements and professional guidelines, showcase department‑specific skill competence, and actively participate in leadership activities.
  • Performance Improvement: report significant events, proactively round with team members, ensure handoff communication, delegate appropriate tasks, participate in multidisciplinary rounds, monitor staff performance, enforce infection control, drive unit‑based process improvement, attend PCI trainings, run debriefs after codes and significant events, and engage in Joint Commission checks.
  • Accountability: validate documentation, prioritize care, prepare shift handoffs, practice cost‑effective behaviors, assist with direct patient care, coordinate patient flow, perform specific tasks as assigned, round with patients and families, ensure appropriate staffing levels, monitor supplies and equipment, deliver disciplinary action when guided by nursing management, and recover service in real‑time when needed.
  • Communication: coordinate with necessary units, stay current with hospital communications, attend staff meetings, avoid negative or foul language, and collaborate with staffing and other departments for staffing adjustments.
  • Professionalism: adhere to organizational policies, maintain ANAs and state board guidelines, collaborate professionally, demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution, uphold standards of practice, participate in WOC rounding, and engage in peer interview processes.
Role‑Specific Functions
  • Oversee EP area and coordinate with Cardiac Cath Lab lead to evaluate staffing and schedule needs, training, materials management, and recommend efficiencies.
Perioperative
  • Identify high‑risk patients and apply holistic assessment to determine appropriate actions for patient, family, and staff.
  • Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
Rapid Response
  • Provide oversight and training and participate in rapid response, stroke, and code team responses.
  • Maintain NRCPR database, run abstracts for performance evaluation, recommend quality improvements.
  • Review critical care shift reports and floor nurse reports, make rounds of all units, and note patient conditions.
Experience
  • One year of nursing experience in an acute care setting required; two years preferred.
  • GI, enteroscopy, and conscious sedation experience desired.
