This position leads the ICU, Post Critical Care, two Cardiac Units and Respiratory Services with a total of 290 FTEs. Assists in the organization and administration of Patient Care Services within Critical Care. Analyzes nursing and ancillary services to improve quality of patient care and attain maximum utilization of staff time and resources. Assumes other responsibilities delegated by Chief Nursing Officer.
EssentialFunctions

- Operational and clinical credibility – Deep Med‑Surg experience with a track record of improving quality, safety, and throughput metrics.
- Change management expertise – Proven ability to lead teams through ambiguity, align leaders, and implement sustainable changes.
- Culture and team reset capability – Ability to rebuild trust, increase engagement, and establish a high‑reliability, ownership‑driven culture.
- Leader coaching and managing up – Skilled in developing frontline leaders while also effectively aligning and influencing senior leadership.
- Bias for action – Quickly identifies gaps, prioritizes work, and executes against clear deliverables within defined timelines.
- Provides 24/7 leadership and oversight of assigned patient care areas.
- Accountable for clinical quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and patient experience.
- Leads staffing, workforce planning, and productivity management.
- Ensures adherence to evidence‑based practice and organizational policies.
- Develops and coaches nurse managers and frontline leaders.
- Drives operational efficiency, throughput, and resource utilization.
- Fosters a culture aligned with high reliability principles, teamwork, and accountability.
- Partners with executive leadership to align departmental performance with strategic priorities.
Master’s degree in Nursing or related field required.
ExperienceEight (8) years of nursing experience in an acute care setting required.
Licensure or CertificationCurrent RN licensure permitting work in the State of Arizona required.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of critical care techniques, tools and responses required to ensure optimal patient care.
- Knowledge of processes and procedures to follow during a rapid response, code, or stroke call.
- Knowledge of surgery specialties and how to prepare, assess and provide post‑operation patient care to ensure best practices are followed.
